Instrument making workshop with Ralf Schreiber, Köln
The STARVAVION Synth is a simple CMOS (Hexinverter-IC) based three-voice oscillator, whose oscillators are coupled via piezo elements. The battery voltage can be re-duced via a potentiometer, creating unstable circuit states that generate variable and organic rhythms. Two buffer stages stabilize the outputs and make them independent of the load. The instrument needs almost no current (<0.5mA) and can be operated with weak, almost empty batteries (3-12V). With different Hex-Inverter ICs ( also combined & piled up) many different sounds & rhythms can be created.
